Harold (Harry) Gundrum passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 31. He would have been 93 on June 20. He was born in a small town in Wisconsin and grew up in West Bend, Wisconsin.

Harold (Harry) Gundrum

Harry was predeceased by his sisters, Irene and Leona. He moved to Milwaukee and had four children with his first wife: a son, Steve (Rona) Gundrum and daughters, Vicki Gundrum, Barb Leon and Joanie Thomas. Harry had three grandchildren, Daniel Gundrum, Erik Saxerud and Andrea Saxerud.

Harry met his second wife, Lori, in Milwaukee and they were married a year later in 1979. They were married for 43 years. Lori brought three children into the marriage, Steve (Laurie) Krueger, Doug Krueger and Michelle Renee. Lori had two grandchildren, Aymee Berndt and Nick (Missy) Burbank. She also had seven great-grandchildren.

Harry loved racing his sailboat and in 1981, he and Lori moved to San Diego for better weather to sail year round. Harry also loved snow skiing. He worked as a sales agent for Minnesota Life for 36 years. He was quite successful and won many trips which allowed him and Lori to travel and see different countries.

When he retired, he took up golf. That is why they decided to find a home with a golf course nearby which brought them to Canyon Lake in 2002. They joined most of Canyon Lake’s clubs and made a lot of friends. They were fortunate to find a home on the lake and as Harry grew older and could no longer play golf, he loved sitting on the patio to watch the boats go by.

Harry will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him, especially his family. His Memorial Service will be on July 22 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church in Sun City. There will be a Celebration of Life luncheon after the service at the Pool View Room in the Canyon Lake Lodge.
