Clubs promote themselves at event

Holiday Harbor was a buzz Saturday with people checking out all the myriad clubs and local businesses that make Canyon Lake such a unique community.

Those clubs and businesses that had booths at the Canyon Lake Family Matters Club event were happy with the added exposure they received via the Club Rush.

In addition to the informative booths, the Club Rush also provided games, raffle drawings and all kinds of fun, even something for the kids to enjoy.

The clubs and businesses that had booths at Club Rush were Canyon Lake Family Matters Club, The Equestrian Club, C.L.E.A.R Foundation, Veterans and First Responders, Canyon Lake Pickleball Club, Canyon Lake Woman’s Club, Canyon Lake Junior Women’s Club, The Canyon Lake Community Gardeners, Canyon Lake Emergency Preparedness, Canyon Lake Ski Club, Canyon Lake Yacht Club, the Canyon Lake Fine Arts Guild, Boy Scouts Troop 2011, the Canyon Lake POA, Harcourts Properties, JK Catering, American 1st Golf Cart Detailing Service and Mary Kay.

Jeannie Hoonnirun, the Veterans and First Responders Secretary, said Club Rush was a great event and people were commenting on how informative all the booths were.

“I enjoyed watching the games and seeing the kids participate,” Jeannie said. “I really enjoyed seeing the adults’ inner kid come out as they participated in the games. The laughter and enjoyment between the clubs was great. I also really was appreciative of having the POA booth there, right next to our booth. The information they were sharing with those who asked various questions was awesome.”

The Canyon Lake Family Matters Club had a horse race game where kids and adults who signed up could make their way across the track which was laid out in the middle of the booths.

New Canyon Lake POA Board Member Bill Van Vleet won the oversized game of pool. The game, which resembled a pool table, was placed on the grass and the balls were kicked with the goal of kicking them into the side and corner pockets.

A large raffle basket filled with goodies was donated by all the clubs and the winner of the fun-filled basket was Alexis McDaniel. The best decorated booth award went to the Canyon Lake Equestrian Club.

Kasey Castillo of the C.L.E.A.R. Foundation said it was such a great experience to be a part of Club Rush and it was obvious how much time and energy the Family Matters Club put into the event.

“The C.L.E.A.R Foundation was excited to spread awareness about our mission and upcoming plans with the community members,” Kasey said.
