CL coach invites youth to beach volleyball academy

Canyon Lake coach Serinna Eason’s dream is coming true. The long-time volleyball coach is starting up a summer beach volleyball program at the Menifee Campus of Mt. San Jacinto College and is inviting Canyon Lake youth to participate. With free clinics May 21 and June 4 to introduce the program, the coach will be launching the Akshun Beach Volleyball Academy at the state of the art courts at the school this summer.

Serinna lives in Canyon Lake with her husband Kyle and three children Stella, Maiya, and Carson. In addition to starting up the academy, Serinna is the Head Women’s Indoor and Beach Volleyball Coach and Department Chair of Kinesiology at Mt. San Jacinto College.

Serinna holds Masters degrees from West Virginia University in Special Education and from Long Beach State in Kinesiology. She also has a Teaching Credential from Cal Baptist University. Her love of volleyball goes all the way back to her childhood.

Serinna Eason and her three children Stella, Maiya, and Carson pose for a moment at the sandy Volleyball Beach Courts at Mt. San Jacinto College in Menifee. With husband and dad Kyle Eason, the family resides in Canyon Lake.

“I started playing club volleyball when I was 10 years old and earned a Division I athletic scholarship to West Virginia University,” she said. “Starting a beach volleyball club has been a dream of mine ever since I started coaching collegiate volleyball over 10 years ago. Watching it become a reality has been an amazing process.”

The free clinics are designed to introduce youths to beach volleyball by providing skills and drills in a fun atmosphere. The clinics are for beginning, intermediate, and advanced volleyball players from elementary through high school. The hour-long clinics begin at 8:00 a.m. Pre-registration is required on the clinic website: akshunsportsacademy.com.

The various programs at the Akshun Beach Volleyball Academy begin June 7.

Serinna will be partnering with Akshun Director of Operations Patrick Springer. Patrick is the Mt. San Jacinto Head Men’s Basketball Coach and Dean of Kinesiology and Athletics. The two own the academy and will work directly with the participants.

For Serinna, the added involvement in a sports academy fits with her life goals and background.

Participants go through drills at the Beach Volleyball Courts at Mt. San Jacinto College in Menifee. Canyon Lake coach Serinna Eason will be holding Beach Volleyball clinics at the school on May 21 and June 4.

“Sports have had a huge impact on my life because of the life lessons and experiences I have learned,” she said. “The relationships I have built have impacted me and provided me with the passion to develop this club.”

Akshun Beach Volleyball Academy is committed to providing a structured, competitive, and dynamic program for all athletes. Serinna will be encouraging the participating athletes to bring a positive attitude to the court and give relentless effort each day, she said.

“Through organized practice and clearly-communicated goals and objectives, every member of our beach volleyball program will be well coached and prepared for success on the court,” she said. “The lessons and qualities attained through our beach volleyball program will be an integral part of learning the foundations of beach volleyball and our core covenants.”

There are three different programs that athletes can sign up for and participate in. These summer programs include Akshun Fitness, Beach Volleyball Training Academy and Little Waves. They all have a different fee structure, which can be found on the academy website.

“Our  goal is to provide each athlete with an opportunity to develop as athletes on and off the court and to fall in love with the game as much as I have throughout the years,” Serinna said. “We  look forward to this new chapter and hope to continue to empower young athletes to compete and be leaders.”

Serinna Eason coaches Beach Volleyball at Mt. San Jacinto College in Menifee and will be conducting volleyball classes all summer as part of the academy she co-owns.
