6,000 eggs found at Carnival

Hundreds of Canyon Lake kids of all ages joined with their families and friends at Holiday Harbor for a day of Easter fun at the Canyon Lake Family Matters Easter Egg Hunt and Carnival Saturday.

Canyon Lake clubs and businesses came together to sponsor the various events and products at the carnival. The weather cooperated and made for a cool and sunny day for hundreds of kids to participate in activities, booths and a massive egg hunt.

Over 6,000 eggs were filled with toys and goodies in the Easter Egg Hunt Village where more than 500 kids found their allotted 10 eggs. In addition to gathering eggs with goodies inside, they sought to find the “winning egg” hidden among the thousands of other eggs.

Only six lucky eggs held the golden egg prize, which yielded a giant stuffed Easter toy or bag filled with prizes. The “winning egg” prizes were sponsored by Brenda Lou Zingg and Christine Gonzales of Coldwell Banker.

Easter Bunnies, Eggs and children were scattered all around Holiday Harbor Saturday to celebrate Easter at the Canyon Lake Family Matters Easter Egg Hunt and Carnival. Hundreds of Canyon Lake families crowded the park to participate in carnival games, face painting and hunt for 6,000 plastic Easter Eggs filled with goodies.

In addition to the Egg Hunt, kids were able to play eight carnival-style games and spend their winnings on an assortment of toys. The children were also able to make crafts from four different selections.

The Carnival created Easter Bingo, a new game for young and old to play. A new Bingo game was held every half hour with a prize going to the winner. Bingo prizes were sponsored by Erin Adam, owner of Queen of Fun Travel.

Face painting was provided compliments of John Grande’s Canyon Lake Solar. The Canyon Lake Car Club showed its continued support to the club and community by providing the 6,000 eggs and Texas Roadhouse donated free kids meals.

The Canyon Lake Family Matters Club said it would like to thank the Canyon Lake Fire Department for stopping by and spending the afternoon at the carnival, Chamber Board member Jeannie O’Dell for heading the wristband sales table, and Canyon Lake POA Board candidates Bill Van Vleet and Greg Doherty for spending the day working game booths.

The club said they were especially grateful for the teen volunteers who worked to earn their school community hours and the Family Matters Easter event committee who worked behind the scenes, months beforehand and on the day of the event, to make sure this was a fun-filled and special day for the children of Canyon Lake.
