Learn Music Wisdom invites youth to workshop

Anthony Garibay’s Learn Music Wisdom business in the Canyon Lake Town Center is holding two workshops open to middle school students through young adult to learn the ins and outs of music. The workshops will be held on April 23 and April 30 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The price of the course is $300.00 and pre-registration is required for this two-day, six-hour workshop.

Anthony, his wife Sonja and their daughter Savannah moved to Canyon Lake five years ago and have been involved in the community ever since. Sonja is a part of the Canyon Lake Junior Women’s Club and works with the club’s philanthropy and scholarships. She also served on the Canyon Lake City Council.

Anthony said his wife is his inspiration for getting the music program up and running. Savannah is very artistic and is excited to get more involved in the music part of art, he said.

Anthony has been involved in writing and recording music for 30 years and is excited to teach music to youth. He said music is universal and offers youth many different options for exciting career opportunities. It also offers something constructive, productive and positive to fill their time.

“Our mission is to support positive growth within our youths, community unity and education through music,” Anthony said.

Anthony has a couple musicians coming to speak to the workshop attendees, one of whom lives in Canyon Lake, Rick Thibodeau. Rick plays nationwide with different cover bands.

Also on the guest list of speakers is a graduate from San Diego State who will come and teach the more technical parts of the program.

In this course, participants will learn the fundamentals of music production, song writing and audio recording. Also taught will be how to select the appropriate genre of music, record audio from a microphone, write songs, and record an entire song.
