Junior Women’s Club holds charity golf event

Over 80 golfers came out to support the Canyon Lake’s Junior Women’s Club Charity Golf Tournament Saturday. Players enjoyed a day of golf, lunch, and a contest or two. Later, a dramatic helicopter golf ball drop took place.

The helicopter, flown by Canyon Lake resident Brenda Schwetz from Wave Rider Helicopters, hovered over a putting green and dropped pre-purchased golf balls on the green to see whose ball would either land a hole in one or land closest to the hole.

The funds raised by the Junior Women’s Club goes towards its philanthropy and senior scholarship program.

Before the tournament began by a shotgun start, a putting contest was held. A 50/50 raffle took place as did a contest for a chance at winning a golf cart by hitting a hole in one.

The Junior Women’s Club said it was appreciative to all its sponsors, and for those who participated in the event.

Prepurchased golf balls, with the purchaser’s identity marked on each one, are dropped onto a green by a helicopter at the Canyon Lake Golf Course during the Canyon Lake Junior Women’s Club’s Annual Charity Golf Tournament Saturday.

It was hoped a ball would drop into the hole for a clear winner, but the photo below shows the wind-driven balls weren’t close.
