Theatre group needs donations to stay afloat

COVID-19 impacted financially most clubs and organizations in Canyon Lake, but those that depend on in-person attendance for their survival were hit the hardest. The Canyon Lake Community Theatre, which receives its funding from ticket sales to its live shows, has opened up a GoFundMe campaign in an effort to stave off it shutting down.

“Our once thriving company, unfortunately, has fallen on hard times,” Stephanie Vecchione, the Vice President of Admin on the organization’s Board of Directors, said. “COVID-19 closures hit us hard and we are on the brink of shutting down. In order to continue our mission, we ask for your help to save our organization.”

The Canyon Lake Community Theatre is a non-profit theatre company that has been bringing live theatre arts and education to the community for over 30 years.

“This organization has been beloved by so many for years as we have been a constant in giving many talented young stars their start,” Stephanie said. “Our mission is to educate and nurture budding actors with decades worth of knowledge from our directors and choreographers. We also allow seasoned actors to continue on with acting as their hobby well into their adult lives.”

The Canyon Lake Community Theatre has set up a GoFundMe.com campaign with a goal of raising $10,000. Those wishing to make donations, large or small, should visit the website and search for the Canyon Lake Community Theatre. The funds received, Stephanie said, will keep the organization alive so it can continue to bring quality live theater to the community and valley.

The theatre group is in the middle of its plans for a Night on Broadway revue. Those who would like to have a child sign up for the production should email Nightonbroadway2022@gmail.com.

No audition is necessary and all those who sign up will be in the show. Those who wish to be featured as a soloist, should attach a one-minute karaoke-style song to the email.
