Canyon Lakers complete fun 17-mile ride

Some 25 riders completed the 17-mile Tour de Canyon Lake bike ride Saturday that took cyclists on a scenic ride around the lake that began at the Canyon Lake Lodge.

The non-competitive event was hosted by the Canyon Lake Triathlon and Fitness Club to benefit the Animal Friends of the Valley.

Bikes of every style were out and about, including tandem, mountain bikes, cruisers, triathlon bikes and E-bikes. One thing organizers said they all shared in common was the beautiful weather, camaraderie and cookies after the long ride.

Pet food, supplies, and pet toys along with $265.00 cash was donated to Animal Friends of the Valley. Participants received a newly re-designed t-shirt in exchange for their donations.

The club’s next event will be a Spring Sprint Triathlon, which will be on April 23 and this is a members-only event. The sprint includes a short swim, followed by a 12-mile bike ride and a 5K run. Participants can complete all three legs or any of the individual three legs.

The Canyon Lake Triathlon and Fitness Club invites anyone who enjoys cycling, running, swimming and other fitness activities to join the club. Annual dues are $35.00 per individual and $40.00 for families.

Members enjoy a variety of benefits, including group cycling meetups, run meetups, open water swims and pool workouts, along with several free triathlon events per year. Members also have full access to the club’s Facebook page, discounts on gear and a rockin’ end of the year party and membership gift.

Club activities are geared toward any level of fitness. Beginners to advanced are able to participate.

This sanctioned Canyon lake club hosts several events and charitable fundraisers for the Canyon Lake community, such as the Tour de Canyon Lake that took place Saturday, the Paddle and Pedal Regatta in August and the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot.
