9er’s Golf Club golfers ‘Shake their Shamrocks’

Forty Canyon Lake 9ers took to the Canyon Lake Golf Course on St. Patrick’s Day to “Shake their Shamrocks and Let the Shenanigans Begin.”

The club’s golfers met for a “Fun Day of Golf” Tournament on Thursday, with the theme being St. Patrick’s Day.  Each player selected one of four St. Patrick’s Day symbols, Green Hat, Pot of Gold, Lucky Clover or Rainbow.

At each hole, one of the four symbols was placed by the tee, determining which player with the corresponding symbol would tee off or drive the ball. The other players drove their balls from the drive ball position.

The two teams with the lowest net score won. The First Place team was Sandy Dawson, Joanne Stribling, Linda Kielty and Alice Giambra. Second Place went to Vickie Eubanks, Claudia Pinto, Shelley Stanovich and Shelly Carter.

A fun game of Closest to the Blarney Stone was played on Hole 4. The two players who were closest to the pin at the end of the day were First Place Denise Viotti and Second Place Mary McMeans.

The day ended with a luncheon at the Canyon Lake Country Club where tables were appropriately decorated for the St. Patrick’s Day occasion.

The next 9er’s Golf Tournament will be the Club Championship, a two-day event on April 7 and 14. Members of the 9er’s Golf Club are asked to sign up for the tournament in the Pro Shop.

Anyone who is interested in joining the 9er’s Golf Club should contact Membership Chairperson Shelley Stanovich at sqstano64@gmail.com.
