Tour de Canyon Lake bike ride tomorrow

The Canyon Lake Triathlon and Fitness Club’s annual Tour de Canyon Lake bike ride is open to all members of the community and takes place tomorrow (Saturday) at the Lodge Parking Lot.

The Tour de Canyon Lake is a casual group ride, not a race, so all types of bikes and fitness levels are encouraged to participate. The event is free of charge and is open to the community. Those wishing to participate need only stop by the tent and sign a waiver, drop off donations and get ready to Tour de Canyon Lake.

The event begins at 8:45 a.m. at the Lodge in the parking lot for check in and the ride begins at 9:00 a.m.

The route will begin at the Lodge, continue to the Main Gate, left on Continental and back to Canyon Lake Drive then to the East Gate, proceeding to the North Gate, left on Longhorn to the campground and back to the Lodge.

The course will be marked using chalk, cones and signs with volunteers stationed at the turns to direct riders. The event usually goes until about 11:30 a.m.

The Club has been hosting this event for more than eight years and it will be collecting donations of pet food and supplies for the Animal Friends of the Valley pet shelter. Participants who donate at least $10.00 will receive a T-shirt while supplies last.

The Canyon Lake Triathlon and Fitness Club hosts a variety of community events and member-only events throughout the year.

Some of the community events include the Tour de Canyon Lake, the Paddle & Pedal Regatta in August and the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day.

Member-only events include group workouts, Sprint and Olympic Distance Triathlons and other fun and social events.

Those interested in joining the Triathlon and Fitness Club can do so at the event. Dues are $35.00 per person or $40.00 for families. Cash, check or Paypal are accepted.
