Chamber of Commerce to hold annual meeting

The Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce is putting together what it intends to be an annual event. The chamber is inviting its members to meet, eat and hear from its leadership at the 2022 Annual Membership Meeting on March 30 at PZA restaurant in the Canyon Lake Town Center.

In addition to the chamber wanting its members to meet the new 2022 Board of Directors, a goal of the evening is to network with the local business community.

At the meeting, which begins at 6:00 p.m., the chamber will announce its 2022 goals and objectives along with its 2022 event calendar. Hors d‘oeuvres and desserts will be served and are included with the purchase of a ticket.

Member registration is $20.00 and non-member registration is $25.00. Members who bring friends can use the code, CHAMBERGUEST, to receive $5.00 off the non-member pricing. Spots are limited for this event. Registration is available on the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce website www.canyonlakechamber.org by clicking on Events. The deadline for registering for the event is March 27.

Guild’s ABBAFAB concert close to selling out

The Canyon Lake Fine Arts Guild has its tribute concerts lineup set at the Canyon Lake Lodge for 2022.

The series begins on March 26 with ABBAFAB, a Tribute to ABBA. All 2022 concerts, except the free concert in September, will be held in the Holiday Bay Room at the Lodge with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and the concerts beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Tennessee River (Alabama Country) will hold its concert on May 14, followed by 4NR, a Tribute to Foreigner on July 16.

The Guild’s free concert at Holiday Harbor’s amphitheater returns this year, featuring Rag Dolls, a Tribute to Aerosmith on Sept. 24. Finally, the Guild will wrap up its 2022 concert season with Stone Soul, a classic soul and Motown tribute band, on Nov. 11.

General Admission tickets can be purchased at the Canyon Lake POA office in the Canyon Lake Town Center for $25.00 per ticket for all shows except the ABBAFAB concert’s general admission and VIP tickets, which must be purchased through www.brownpapertickets.com and are close to selling out.

Travel Club to visit Cirque Du Soleil, Central Coast

The Canyon Lake Travel Club has a couple of upcoming events on its itinerary.

First, the club is gearing up for a destination trip to see Cirque Du Soleil presents OVO at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on April 24 for a 1:00 p.m. performance that will last for two hours.

The cost of the event is $121 per person for members and $126 per person for non-members. The cost includes coach transportation, logo level show ticket, snacks, water and bus drivers gratuity.

Accessible seating is available.

The bus will leave Canyon Lake Eastport lower parking lot at 10:30 a.m. and will return at 6:30 p.m. Restaurants are near the theater for after-the-show dinners.

Reservations must be received no later than April 7.

Then, In June, the Canyon Lake Travel Club is heading to Hearst Castle and will spend four days and three nights visiting the Central California Coast.

Included in the trip’s package is deluxe motor coach travel with a professional tour director, a grand tour of Hearst Castle, three wine tastings in Paso Robles, and visits to Cambria, Santa Barbara and Solvang are all on the itinerary for the excursion.

This trip is planned for June 6 through June 9 and the cost is $995.00 per person with double occupancy or $1195.00 for single occupancy. The trip includes three nights at Springhill Suites by Marriott.

A deposit of $200.00 is due now to hold a place for the trip and final payment is due on May 5.

Inaugural Cancer in Our Community Fair in May

The inaugural Canyon Lake Cancer in Our Community Fair will take place May 14 at Holiday Harbor Park.

A local group is putting on the event in partnership with Michelle’s Place and will bring cancer awareness to the city and community of Canyon Lake. Detection, support and education is the goal.

The fair will consist of a preventative care area, cancer related vendors, keynote speakers, support groups and a kids corner. There is no fee to attend.

Food trucks will be on site, entertainment will be provided by Steel Canyon and Code 415 and Canyon Lake clubs will be in attendance. More details are still being finalized.

Junior Tennis lessons available for kids, 6-12

Canyon Lake kids ages six to 12 interested in learning a new sport or maybe perfecting their game are being invited to participate in lessons at the Canyon Lake Tennis Courts.

The lessons will be given by Canyon Lake Head Tennis Pro Bobby Kielty on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Beginner and Intermediate levels will include tennis activities such as building the participant’s speed, agility, strength and more.

Canyon Lake teens invited to lifeguard tryouts

Talented Canyon Lake teens looking for a summer job are being invited to lifeguard tryouts to qualify as a lifeguard for the California State Parks. Lifeguard tryouts will be held on April 23 at Moreno Beach in Lake Perris.

Lifeguards that make the cut will be paid to train and then be hired for the summer, which goes to the end of August. The hourly rate of pay is $17.73

To qualify to try out, participants must be 16 years of age and be able to swim 1,000 yards in under 20 minutes, followed by a run, swim and run.

To try out, come in a swimsuit or triathlon suit (females one piece) and goggles. The California State Parks are looking to hire 20 new guards this year.
