Canyon Lake felon arrested on gun charges

Canyon Lake resident Cesar Alejandro Ayala-Sainz was arrested last week and booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center on three felony charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, a convicted felon in possession of ammunition and possession of a stolen firearm.

Deputies assigned to the Lake Elsinore Station Special Enforcement Team served a search warrant at a home in the 22800 block of Green Pine Dr. in Canyon Lake. During the service of the search warrant, a stolen 9mm Glock handgun, loaded with 11 rounds of 9mm ammunition, was located and recovered, police said.

Cesar, 22, was released on $10,000 bail the following day. He is scheduled to appear back in court May 16 at the Murrieta Southwest Justice Center.
