City’s Kasey Castillo has a ‘CLEAR’ vision

Kasey Castillo

Councilmember, and former Mayor, Kasey Castillo wants to share her vision with Canyon Lake and welcomes anyone who would like to make the vision a reality.

Kasey said when she ran for City Council back in 2018 she mentioned that Canyon Lake needs a junior lifeguard program.

“Hello, we live on a lake,” she said. “Boating and water safety, CPR, physical fitness, conservation efforts and fun in the sun all summer long are all part of life in Canyon Lake.”

A junior lifeguard program would give additional oversight on Canyon Lake’s beaches, if it works out, she said.

Kasey said she has many supportive friends who are on board and helping her make this vision a reality which will also bring a little extra safety to the community’s beaches.

“Bradley Morton sees my vision for the community as an integrated water sports program,” Kasey said. “Jeremy Smith believes this is important as a regional partner. Tim Cook who said ‘yes’ when I spoke with him about my vision and said he sees the benefits as a POA director. Jonda Morton who is organized and ready to go, along with Darcy Stoltz Burke who believes we can bring water quality and conservation education to younger residents. These friends and Canyon Lakers are helping me with my vision and I couldn’t be more excited to team up with them.”

Together, we are making progress toward creating a non-profit to make it happen. Canyon Lake Enrichment, Activities and Recreation (CLEAR) Foundation would be the name of the nonprofit, she said.

“We can’t wait to bring these jobs and résumé builders to our Canyon Lake teens,” Kasey said. “This program, through the California State Parks would help our Canyon Lake kids, ages 8-16.”

Junior Lifeguard tryouts will be coming to Sunset Beach soon, she said.

“This vision became a group endeavor and I’m excited for Canyon Lake participation,” Kasey said.”Please reach out to us at Clearfoundationscl@gmail.com.”
