CL Men’s After Lunch Bunch Golf Group looking for more golfers

The Canyon Lake After Lunch Bunch has moved its weekly competition to Friday mornings and is eager to have more Canyon Lake golfers join the group. Bobby Gunter and Ross Hanover were the victors at last week’s game, finishing with a two-man tin whistle score of 30.

The Men’s After Lunch Bunch Golf has been a weekly Canyon Lake tradition for the past 41 years. It began as an opportunity for those who could leave work early on Friday and play an afternoon round before spending the weekend in Canyon Lake. Since then, it has become a morning game for all interested Canyon Lake golfers.

The weekly competition provides an opportunity for tournament-level play, comradery, and the redistribution of a little cash. Many of the participants stay for lunch as the results are tallied and awarded.

The group is looking for additional Canyon Lake men to join them. For those who are interested, they should call or text Bob Stinson at 951-249-4565 and sign up for any Friday they are interested in playing. After that, participants just need to show-up, pay the $11.00 entry fee and enjoy the day.

In Friday’s competition, Bob Stinson and Clive Taylor placed second. Chuck Furry and Phil Coughlin took home prize money for being closest to the pin on holes 8 and 15, respectively. Bobby Gunter, Chris Poland, and Carlos Ramirez earned the three skins that were awarded. The 14 participating golfers paid their entry fee and teed off Friday morning starting at 9:00 a.m. on the Canyon Lake Golf Course.
