Parade of Lights brings out crowds

More than 20 boats participated in the annual Canyon Lake Parade of Lights Saturday and spectators crowded Indian Beach, the causeway and other locations to view the colorful and festively lit boats.

“This was the biggest turn out in a long time,” Rich Moline, Commodore of the sponsoring Canyon Lake Yacht Club, said. “Money was also raised to fund the Yacht Club’s scholarship program.”

The scholarships help Canyon Lake students who attend traditional colleges and universities as well as trade schools.

There were three different levels of donation made at the parade Saturday. Admiral donations were in the amount of $750.00, Commodore was $500.00 and Captain was $250.00.

This parade was the 39th Annual Parade of Lights holiday boat parade. The Canyon Lake Yacht Club will give awards in a variety of categories, which will be announced next week. The club will host a party in January for all the winners. Participating boats cruised around the lake with the Yacht Club’s infamous Green Dragon leading the way while thousands watched from the shoreline.

“The Canyon Lake Yacht Club is grateful to our sponsors and the Yacht Club Board for all its hard work,” Rich said. “The club also thanks Art Femister and his family for once again providing the judging station and for being an amazing host.”
