Over 100 run, trot, walk Turkey Trot

Over 100 participants gathered at Gault Field to either run, walk or trot in the Canyon Lake Triathlon & Fitness Club Turkey Trot before heading off to their family Thanksgiving gatherings last week.

Many of the Canyon Lakers brought their families, friends and pets to complete the 3.1-mile course. Several of the participants got into the holiday spirit by wearing Turkey Trot T-Shirts or other festive costumes.

Winners of the 5K run were Jully Martilla and Austen Fortenberry, who took home pumpkin pies as their winnings.

After the 5K was completed, kids ran a short course around the baseball field. William Hall, 8, and his sister Summer Hall, 6, finished in first place as a brother/sister duo, taking home a Canyon Lake Triathlon & Fitness Club visor.

The event was free to participate in, however, many of those who participated brought canned food which was donated to the Helping Hands Food Pantry.

The Canyon Lake Triathlon & Fitness Club said it would like to thank the volunteers who made the event possible and successful.
