Turkey Hand Coloring Contest open to local kids

In what has become a Thanksgiving tradition, Canyon Lake’s children are being invited to pull out their crayons and markers, outline their hands and create their version of their holiday turkey.

The Canyon Lake POA is partnering with the Canyon Lake Family Matters Club to bring back the Turkey Hand Coloring Contest. This contest is for Canyon Lake children ages 2 through 12 and will run through Nov. 26.

Participating Canyon Lake children can create a turkey using a pre-made hand outline (available for download online at www.canyonlakepoa.com/turkeyhand), or they may outline their hand on a standard 8.5 x 11 sheet of white paper. Adding extra features to the picture, such as other animals, holiday decorations, scenery, etc. is acceptable, as long as the hand turkey outline is most prominent.

Artwork may be emailed to media@canyonlakepoa.com or the artwork can be turned into the Canyon Lake POA’s office in the Canyon Lake Town Center. There is also an option on the POA website to submit electronically.

The child’s name, tract-lot number and age should be included in the email and/or on the back of the submission (if turning in at the office). Parents are asked to ensure that the child’s name does not appear on the front of the artwork.

The Family Matters Club is providing the prizes for the most artistic creations for the following age groups: 2 to 5, 6 to 9, 10 to 12 and 13 to 18.

Artwork submissions will be showcased on the Canyon Lake POA’s Facebook and Flickr pages. The artwork submitted by the children will also be hung up at the offices of the Canyon Lake POA.
