Canyon Lake Mermaids host Potion Party

The newly-sanctioned Mermaids of Canyon Lake Club hosted a witch-themed Potion Party Saturday to raise funds to benefit local charities such as the Riverside Shelter for Abused Women.

The event raised over $1,000 for the local charities.

The event kicked off with appetizers, which were followed by a variety of foods served buffet style. There was a gentlemen’s bar and a regular bar that served the drinks.

Witches abounded at the Potion Party, all of whom socialized both inside the host home and outside where views of the lake made for a pleasant evening.

A witches cackling contest was one of the many highlights of the evening.

Mermaids of Canyon Lake president Lyne Hall chaired the event. Her committee consisted of club members Kathy Ray, Kellie Welty, Fran Tibbet, Brenda Lees, Nyla Finch, Vicki Young, Karen Doherty and Linda Johnson.

Upcoming events for the Mermaids of Canyon Lake will be a 1980s-themed party, where Publicity Chair Aprile McKinnon will emcee the event. The club will also host a Kentucky Derby Event.
