Lee, Golovich win City Golf Tournament

Kevin Lee and Mia Golovich won their respective divisions of the Seventh Annual City of Canyon Lake Golf Championship Tournament over the weekend at the Canyon Lake Golf & Country Club.

Kevin scored a total gross of 140 to win the Men’s Division championship. He shot a remarkable first round of 64. Mia, who won last year as well, finished on top of the Women’s Division with a total two-round score of 151.

The popular tournament was co-sponsored by The Canyon Lake POA and the City of Canyon Lake. The tournament is also supported by the Canyon Lake Men’s Golf Club, Canyon Lake Family Golf Club, and Canyon Lake Women’s Golf Club.

The city tournament winners received a prize along with their names engraved on the City of Canyon Lake Golf Championship Tournament trophy that is on display year round at the Canyon Lake Golf & Country Club.

The city tournament format is a stroke play event. The players were flighted by handicap and then played a gross score tournament.

The winners of the five men’s flights were Flight 1, Jeffrey Jolley of Murrieta; Flight 2, Derek Jones of Canyon Lake; Flight 3, Paul Holm of Canyon Lake; Flight 4, Eddie Graham of Lake Elsinore; and Flight 5, David Campbell of Canyon Lake. Canyon Lake’s KK Beecher won the Women’s Flight.

Next year’s City of Canyon Lake Golf Championship Tournament will take place on Oct. 1 and 2.
