Community-wide Garage Sale next month

A massive community-wide garage sale sponsored by the Canyon Lake POA is set to take place Sept. 25 and 26.

This weekend event community sale allows residents to have a garage sale without obtaining a Canyon Lake POA garage sale permit. This sale is for the residents of Canyon Lake and their guests, but all guests must be called in.

This community garage sale will be a two-day sale and all items must be removed from the front lot by 5:00 p.m. on Sept. 26, the POA said. Residents with items in the front lot that are in violation of the Rules & Regulations may be subject to violations.

Those who wish to participate in hosting a garage sale should add their address to the Canyon Lake POA interactive map at www.clpoa.com/communitysale.

Garage sales held on alternative dates, of course, must still obtain a garage sale permit from the Canyon Lake POA and follow the Rules & Regulations related to garage sales.

The Senior Center Holiday Boutique

The Senior Center Holiday Boutique is still months away, but the goods to be sold there are most likely already in the process of being crafted. Likewise, it’s time to reserve the rented space to sell items at the boutique.

The Senior Center will be hosting its Holiday Boutique on Nov. 6 and 7. All proceeds will go to help finance the Senior Center’s future events and expenses.

The Senior Center is looking for vendors who would like to participate. Space rentals are first come first serve and need to be reserved.

Also, this year’s boutique will be run a little differently than its boutiques of the past. This year’s boutique will require the vendors to be responsible for their setting up and the selling of their merchandise.

Vendors will rent, furnish and man their own space. The boutique will be indoors and outdoors and will consist of different size spaces. The rental fee for the spaces will vary based on size.

All merchandise sold at the Holiday Boutique needs to be handmade and not store bought. All items sold will need to be approved by the Senior Center Holiday Boutique committee.

To rent a space or to get questions answered, vendors should contact the center at amazgrace5626@gmail.com.

RFID transponders installed at POA office again

RFID transponders that are affixed to member vehicles for automated entering the community’s gates, will once again be installed by staff at The Canyon Lake POA office. RFID transponders are free for all members.

To obtain an RFID transponder, members simply need to visit the Member Services office in the Canyon Lake Town Center with a current vehicle registration and the corresponding vehicle. POA staff will activate and apply the RFID transponder to the vehicle.

Woman’s Club looking for holiday homes

The Canyon Lake Woman’s Club’s Holiday Home Tour is back on for this coming holiday season and the club is looking for spectacular homes to include in the tour.

“If you go all out for the holidays and would like to showcase your home, we’d love to hear from you,” Shawna Bowen of the Woman’s Club said. “We provide all the tickets, staffing in each room of the house and booties for people’s feet.”

For those interested in showcasing their home, email info@canyonlakewomansclub.com.

Town Center landscape being renovated

Landscape grass maintenance being stalled to replace the turf has resulted in dead grass at the Canyon Lake Town Center. The Canyon Lake Merchants Association, which maintains all of the landscape, parking and common areas of the Canyon Lake Town Center recently received approval for a $100,000 turf removal rebate from Metropolitan Water District.

Contractors have begun installing new irrigation valves and drip irrigation as part of the renovation of the grass areas. Those grass areas in the Town Center Planters will be removed.

All of the planters will be updated with new plants, shrubs, drip irrigation and mulch to give the Town Center a fresh new look and will use much less water. The vast majority of this project will be paid for using the MWD rebate funds.
