Luau helps CLAMS feel ‘normal’

The annual luau put on by The Canyon Lake Association of Men (CLAMS) has been a Canyon Lake tradition for the last few years.

When 150 people flocked to the event Saturday at Holiday Harbor Park, it demonstrated how much the COVID-19-postponed luau last year was missed.

“Last Saturday’s turnout was incredible,” club member Randy Schutz said. “Thank you to everyone who came out. We are so glad to return to normalcy.”

With tickets priced at $30 per person, the fundraiser was deemed a success. Most of the proceeds will go to multiple local charities and groups such as Helping Hands, Animal Friends of the Valley, Hope, Lake Elsinore Little League, Canyon Lake Little League, Children’s Hospital Loma Linda, and the Boys & Girls Club, Randy said.

“It’s a blast every single year,” Randy said. “It’s awesome to immerse yourself into another culture. It’s even better because we do this for a good cause.”

Dinner guests were treated to a DJ and entertainment by luau dancers and flame throwers. Guests drank cocktails and feasted on a traditional luau dinner.

Evan Schutz and his mother Mavis Schutz enjoy the entertainment at the luau.
