Kendra Nathan heading to ski regionals

Canyon Lake’s teen skier Kendra Nathan begins her month-long quest to rise to the top of the junior water skiing world by competing this weekend in the USA Water Ski & Wake Sports Western Regional Championships. The event will be held at Laku Landing in Windsor, Colorado.

Kendra will be competing in all three events (slalom, trick and jump) as well as in the overall competition. She does not need to do particularly well in order to compete in the 79th GOODE Water Ski National Championships Aug. 8-14 at Waters Edge Estates in Wilmington, Ill.

Because of previous marks in earlier tournaments this year, Kendra has already qualified for the Nationals.

Kendra is coming off of an outstanding performance in the NorCal Championships held at Liquid Zone in Pleasant Grove CA (near Sacramento). In the Jump Competition, she jumped 98 feet, to better her personal best of 96 feet.

In the other two events in Pleasant Grove, she received 3,870 points in Trick and got 1@38 off in Slalom to better her overall personal best score by almost 200 points.

After the Nationals in Wilmington, Kendra will head to Florida for the World Championships. The 2021 International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation World Under-21 Waterski Championships Tournament will take place Aug. 22-29 in Santa Rosa Beach, FL.
