Canyon Lake Tennis Club holds July tournament

Doug Wells (20 games/points) and Dawn Wessel (27 games/pts) were the winners as Individual high scorers and the D team won the overall team competition at the Canyon Lake Tennis Club’s monthly tennis tournament and club mixer on Sunday.

“The club encourages fun competition with our monthly tournaments,” Jennifer Denson, the club’s Social Media and Public Relations director, said. “Social tennis will return soon, but in the meantime, the monthly mixers are great to be part of the tennis community and a fun way to meet other tennis enthusiasts.”

The Fiesta Doubles Mixer was directed by Carlos Hansen and Michelle Porter.

Each participant played four rounds of eight games with no-ad scoring, along with a chance to play 32 games.

“We had about 24 participants at this event,” Jennifer said. “It’s always a great turnout, and the club does such a great job by adding fun and friendly competition on our beautiful courts.”

Members of the D Team were awarded tennis-themed prizes and gift cards. The team earned 120 games/points. Members of the team were: Anthony Hardin, Ed Basubas, Wes Clay, Krista Smith, Dawn Wessel and Kathie Clay.

Members brought breakfast goods to enjoy and share while socializing during the matches. The club’s next tournament will be on Aug. 14.

“Thank you to our club’s Tournament Directors Carlos Hansen and Michelle Porter,” Jennifer said. “Thank you also to the Event Directors Mary Koster and Danette Conlin for all their work and efforts to bring the event together.”
