Junior Women’s Club holds party, installs new 2021-22 president/board

After honoring the outgoing board members of the Canyon Lake Junior Women’s Club, club members nominated and elected Jonda Morton as the club’s new president and installed the new board. Before and after the installation came dinner, partying and dancing.

With COVID-19 restrictions lifted, the Canyon Lake Lodge was the venue for The Canyon Lake Junior Women’s Club’s end-of-the-year celebration Saturday. Per tradition, the new members planned the event and as members entered, they were required to give a “secret” passcode that had been on the invitation for entry.

After club members were treated to a buffet of pasta dishes, cakes and cookies, the installation took place. The members of the outgoing board were given personal cards, chocolates, and a rose, afterwhich the new board was nominated and elected for the 2021-22 term.

“It is my distinguished honor to serve as the next Canyon Lake Junior Women’s Club president and be given the opportunity to build upon the momentum that this amazing group of women has created,” Jonda said. “Their commitment within our club has positively impacted so many lives through scholarships, philanthropy, and maximizing our sense of community.”

Jonda said she was grateful to be a part of the good the club had done over the last year.

“As we move into the next season,” she said, “our goal as an organization is to expand our community outreach by extending our greater sense of connectivity to more women of Canyon Lake.”

Afterward, the “casino” was opened for guests to play blackjack and roulette. Those who didn’t play the table games danced the rest of the night to DJ Johnny Herrera.
