Mustang Court holds block party

After winning both the Halloweentown and Holiday Home contests, it was time for Mustang Court to party…on sponsor American Dream Realty’s dime. Those on the street gathered for the party on Saturday as a reward for winning the contests.

Cotton candy and snow cones were provided as part of the block party on Mustang Court Saturday.

Homes throughout Canyon Lake participated in these month-long decorating contests that American Dream Realty sponsored.

Cassy Abraham and Kenni-Marie Potter initially founded Halloween Town. The two women wanted to ensure festivities were still alive during the pandemic. Sabrina Alt, the head of American Dream Realty, judged and provided awards for the winning homes.

Sabrina then chose to continue the new wave of festivities through the Holiday Home Contest. She held movie nights and gingerbread house contests for those who participated in the Holiday Home group.

Homes that won individual categories in both contests were awarded Amazon gift cards. Sabrina believed the Block Party would be the best way to reward the street competition winner.

“I wanted to reward all 20 homes on the winning street,” Sabrina said. “I also wanted to instill a community aspect and community involvement. It was also important to us to have the opportunity to meet the residents. And of course, we wanted to encourage an even better turnout and more light displays for 2021.”

Families were treated to a Saturday full of cotton candy, snow cones, a mechanical bull, water jumpers, and a DJ.

“The event was amazing. It surpassed everyone’s expectations,” Sabrina said. “Everyone had so much fun. The hot weather was just perfect for the slip-n-slides and snow cones.”
