Happy Camp 4th of July lottery this week

The Canyon Lake POA Happy Camp site lottery for Independence Day will be online again this year. Signups for the lottery will be from today (June 11) through June 17 at www.clpoa.com/lottery.

The virtual lottery will be held on June 19 at 10:00 a.m. through Zoom at vm.clpoa.net and on the Canyon Lake POA Facebook page. There will be 53 total sites in the lottery this year. Each property may have one entry and there is a minimum three-day reservation requirement. Winners will be notified by email with reservation information.

Site winners may cancel their reservation with the campground up until July 2. After July 2, sites may not be cancelled and site winners who do not show up for their reservation will be charged the three-day minimum holiday rate. Sites are non-transferable and may not be “sold.”

Line dancing class returns Tuesday

The Canyon Lake POA’s popular Line Dancing classes taught by Diana Gallagher are returning to the Canyon Lake Lodge on Tuesday. The registration fee is $25 for five classes and $40.00 for 10 classes. There are two different class levels for beginner and intermediate participants.

Classes can be purchased at the Canyon Lake POA office (instructors cannot accept payment). The class is taught by Canyon Lake resident Diana Gallagher. Diana has over 15 years of line dancing experience. During the last several years, she has performed and taught at several line dancing festivals and events that support local schools, churches, and community clubs.

Participants may attend a trial class prior to purchasing a punch card. No refunds will be issued after 90 days from the date of purchase. Refund requests for medical reasons must be accompanied by a physician’s note. Refunds may take up to 6six weeks.

Woman’s Club’s Paint & Sip June 24

The Canyon Lake Woman’s Club is inviting its members and all others from the community to join in on its Summer Paint & Sip event being held June 24 at 6:00 p.m.

Those who attend will partake in beverages as well as learn to create the painting that accompanies this article.

“We will be painting a fun patriotic painting just in time for the 4th of July,” the club’s Dona Ziegler said. “We only have a limited number that we can accept, so get your money in early.”

Those wishing to participate will need to submit their name, contact info and a $45 check made payable to CLWC. The information and check should be dropped off at Samantha Gorrell’s home at 29748 Redwood Drive. She will have a basket on her front porch.

For those with questions, call Dona Ziegler at 951-440-7783.

POA office space being remodeled

Within the last two years the Canyon Lake POA has successfully scanned and migrated thousands of paper files to digital files. The area that was allocated to store these files is now being repurposed into additional office and conference space for staff.

“Please pardon our dust as work takes place behind the Member Services office,” the POA said. “Work is not anticipated to affect business hours or operations.”

A public memorial service for recently-deceased City Councilmember Jordan Ehrenkranz has been set for Saturday, June 19 at 10:00 a.m. at the Canyon Lake Lodge. Community members are invited to the memorial. Jordan, who died suddenly at the age 87, had served for years in leadership of both the City Council and the Canyon Lake POA board. Jordan is survived by his wife, Jennie Ehrenkranz, five children and seven grandchildren.

Mailboxes in clusters being rearranged

The Canyon Lake POA is in the process of replacing the concrete slabs for most of the mailbox clusters throughout the community. Notices of upcoming work will be posted at mailboxes and mail delivery service should not be interrupted.

The United States Postal Service has requested that all mailbox numbers read right to left in numerical order. Consequently, during the process of replacing the slabs the mailboxes will be rearranged to meet this requirement.

Current mailbox keys will continue to work after the renumbering. Residents with any questions may contact POA Operations at 951-244-6841 x510.

Traffic school being offered again by POA

The Canyon Lake POA offers traffic school as a method to reduce or remove the fine amount from a traffic citation received on the streets inside of Canyon Lake.

All members, their lessees, and guests may be eligible to attend traffic school. An individual is eligible to attend traffic school for a moving violation once every 36 months, as long as the prime member is in good standing with the Canyon Lake POA.

Individuals can sign up for the school on the association’s website.

Theater Camp offered to Canyon Lake youth

Children and youth ages four through high school grads are being invited to a Summer Theater Camp being put on by The Canyon Lake Community Theater Group at the end of July.

The camp will be a week-long program where the students will learn different theater techniques and different numbers and perform what they have learned on the Friday night of the camp at the Canyon Lake Lodge.

The cost is $200 for the first child and $150 for every other child from the same family. Each participant will receive a T-shirt and two complimentary tickets to the Friday show. If other family members would like to attend the show, tickets will be on sale for $10 apiece.

For those interested in attending the camp, email Stephanie Vecchione at clctdirctorofpr@gmail.com with each participant’s name and age, as well as parents names and contact information. Or fill out the form at the club’s website, clctheatre.com. No payment is needed at this time.

The camp will be held the last week of July.

Caregiver Connection is back

After a long COVID-19 break, the Canyon Lake Community Church Caregiver Connection Support Group is resuming its meetings.

“We look forward to seeing our ‘old’ friends, as well as those new to caregiving,” the church’s Jo Ann Wickerath said. “Whether your loved one is still in your care, in a care facility, or has gone home to the Lord, we welcome you into our support group for fellowship and encouragement.”

The meetings will begin Monday at Canyon Lake Community Church in Building “C” in Room 11 and will resume every second and fourth Monday from 10:00 a.m. to noon.

“Masks and social distancing will be at the individual’s discretion, as we have a large meeting room,” Bev Haney of the church said. “Please bring your own beverage, as none will be served.  And please remember, no perfume, for the benefit of our friends with allergies.”
