The team of Travis Smith and Joe Merrill hauled in its best five bass for a total of 21.51 pounds to take first place in the Canyon Lake Bassmasters March Open Tournament Saturday morning.
On 11 boats, a total of 21 anglers participated in the 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. tournament. At the conclusion of the event, each team’s best five fish were weighed.
Following the Travis and Joe first place team were Kevin Hugo and Rob Castner in second place with a total catch of 20.25 pounds. Third place went to the team of Jon Kemble and Randy Kemble with a 20.25 pound total catch.
Big fish honors went to Jon Kemble, who caught a big bass that weighed 7.74 pounds.
