New library coming to Canyon Lake
Additional space and a storefront location in the Canyon Lake Town Center has prompted the move of The Canyon Lake Library. During the two-month move and remodeling of its new location in the former offices of the Giardinelli Law Group, the library will close.
The library has been open for all of its 21 years inside the City of Canyon Lake City Hall Building. It has leased the 2,711 square foot space from the city. The library will move into its new 3,394 square foot location in May, which is located at 31594 Railroad Canyon Road.

The library has been closed for in-person services the last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but was open for Express Service, which allows for picking up and dropping off reserved books. That service will also close once the library shutters its City Hall location doors at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday).
While the library is closed, the new location will be remodeled into a modern, state-of-the-art library that will offer enhanced services, programs and technology to the community of Canyon Lake. It is anticipated that COVID-19 restrictions will have eased enough by the projected May opening to allow for full services there.
The city recently purchased the building adjacent to the current City Hall, anticipating the move of the library to this new location. The current library has space in both the City Hall and the newly-purchased building. The city now owns the entire space occupied by the library. With the library moving, the city said in January that it will use the vacated space as its new Council Chambers. The Canyon Lake Library is a branch of the Riverside County Library system, which is run by the county and not the city.
