Bigger bass being caught by Bassmasters Club

Members of the Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club took to Canyon Lake Saturday and hauled in a significant catch. The winners of the March Tournament were Kevin Hugo and Danny Batinich with five fish weighing in at 24.39 pounds.

As the teams weighed their fish, spectators showed up at Holiday Harbor.

The tournament was a zone tournament this month. Each team had a map of the designated areas it was required to fish for a period of time. When the time expired, the team would switch to the next zone. The club only uses this format once a year.

There were 22 anglers who participated in the tournament and they used 12 boats. With the fish starting the spawn, the five-fish totals weighed more in March.

The 2nd Place team was Kirk Beardsley and Steve Baker with their five fish weighing in at 23.12 pounds.

The 3rd Place team was Shannon Perkins and Roger Hunter with their five fish weighing in at 19.48 pounds.

The Big Fish of the Day, which weighed a whopping 7.48 pounds, was caught by Kevin Hugo.
