Bassmasters hold December tournament

Nine boats carrying 16 anglers competed in the Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club’s final tournament of the year recently with the winning team bringing in the heaviest five fish of the day.

Travis Smith and Danny Batinich took first place at the event with their five fish weighing in at  21.10 lbs.

Second place went to Nolan Cromwell and Bentley Pilley with a total weight of 16.23 lbs. And third place was Dave Brittenham and Rich Tucker, with a total weight of 15.38 lbs. for their five fish.

Jim Wright hauled in the Big Fish of the day with his bass weighing in at 5.85 lbs.

The tournament lasted for eight hours beginning at 6:00 a.m. with the weigh-in taking place at Holiday Harbor Park.

“Congrats to all,” Jude Donahue of the club said. “As the weather cools down, the fishing gets tougher.”
