Yacht Club makes lakefront tour virtual

The Canyon Lake Yacht Club’s lakefront Christmas decorations tour in club members’ boats was altered at the last minute, as club leaders switched to a virtual event because of COVID-19 concerns. The tour included visiting the lakefront displays of winners of the club’s decorating contest.

Two days before the Dec. 19 event, the club made the decision to cancel the tour and to instead release a YouTube video of the homes they were going to visit. The Yacht Club also produced a map of the best displays for residents who have their own boats to use on a self-guided tour.

Judges had already determined the winners, and the club was eager to show them to the public, but the risks outweighed the benefits, resulting in the cancellation, club officials said.

To allow all Canyon Lake residents to enjoy the beautiful waterfront holiday decorations, the club produced a video and released it on its YouTube channel, “The Canyon Lake Yacht Club.”
