Judging begins for Holiday Home contest

Judging will take place tonight for those who entered The Holiday Home Facebook Group’s Canyon Lake Christmas Exterior Decorating Contest. The various categories will be judged by a panel of judges chosen by Karen Bevans. The panel will be visiting the homes today (Friday) from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.

The entries came from those Holiday Home Group members who turned in completed applications by Sunday. There are three categories in addition to the Resident’s Choice Award. Prizes for each of the three judged categories are $150 Amazon card for 1st Place, $15 Amazon Card for 2nd Place and $15 Amazon Card for 3rd Place.

The judges will award winners for these three categories: “Merry and Bright” (best display of colored lights), “Best Canyon Lake Holiday” (what depicts the spirit of Canyon Lake) and “Best Holiday Home Street.”

All entries will be entered into the Resident’s Choice Award, which will be determined through a poll on the Canyon Lake Holiday Home Group Facebook page. The prize for the Resident’s Choice is a trophy and a $150 Amazon Gift Card.

The Canyon Lake Holiday Home Facebook Group is also holding a Virtual Christmas Tree Contest. The 1st place winner will receive a trophy and a $150 Amazon Gift Card while 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive trophies. The winners will be determined by a poll taken on the group’s Facebook page.

The Resident’s Choice Contest and Christmas Tree Contest will be open for voting beginning today at 6:00 p.m. until Sunday at 6:00 p.m. Only members of the Holiday Home Facebook Group are permitted to vote.

Sabrina Alt, who is sponsoring the contests, also created a Canyon Lake Holiday Home self-guided interactive map to see all the decorated homes. This map can be found on the Canyon Lake Holiday Home Facebook Group page.
