Operation Care Package hosted by new club

Canyon Lake Newbies, a blossoming new club that was born only four months ago, is inviting all Canyon Lakers to assist in creating care packages for troops overseas. The group is getting together tomorrow (Saturday) to accept donations and pack the care packages.

Active on Facebook, the club is a place for both new and old residents who are interested in engaging in fun and meaningful activities with one another.

The club’s Facebook Group administrators, Bradley Morton, Jonda Morton, Margaret Staley and Amanda Lowrey, created Operation Care Package to organize efforts to create care packages to give to troops overseas. The club has been collecting donations the first part of November, which consisted of a multitude of preserved snacks and toiletries. Their goal is to create 25 care package donations to send off by Monday.

“My wife and I feel incredibly lucky to live in one of the most amazing communities in California,” Bradley said. “We absolutely love Canyon Lake and our neighbors here. Our goal is to create events and activities that will establish and deepen friendships to last a lifetime.”

Events next year will likely include party buses to wineries, a caravan RV trip, boat float parties, kid activities, party buses to concerts, additional comedy events and continued support of our troops and local charities.

“Working with our leadership team,” Bradley said, “we can’t wait to create even more peak experiences in the months to come.”

The club welcomes all Canyon Lakers to come and help them pack the care packages tomorrow. Those who join are also encouraged to bring donations.

“We see this event as a mixer, for everyone to meet each other, while doing something great to help others,” Margaret said. “This whole club is just one big mixer. We have had concerts on the water, too. We really want to build a great community. It’s been so fun.”

Putting the care packages together will start at noon tomorrow at Holiday Harbor Park.

Operation Care Package will include assembling holiday care packages for the military. A BBQ lunch will be offered to all participants. Kids are also welcome to join the event. There will be face painting and a Nerf gun battle royale for kids of all ages.

Before attending the Operation Care Package event tomorrow, those coming should join its Facebook Group, “Canyon Lake Newbies,” and follow its rules of setting a reservation to join the event.
