Canyon Lake Junior Women’s Club hosts first Chef’s Open

Three Canyon Lake restaurants will be competing this month in The Canyon Lake Junior Women’s Club’s Chef’s Open. The Urban Craft Eatery, The Lighthouse Bar & Grill and PZA will be participating for the 2020 Chef’s Open Champion Award.

The friendly competition is also a fundraiser for the club. A portion of the cost of the meals will be donated back to the Junior Women’s Club. The event will take place throughout the month of November.

The chefs from each of the three restaurants have created a unique Canyon Lake Junior Women’s Club signature dish that is being featured on their November menu. Patrons who order this dish will be given a slip to fill out at the restaurant on which they are encouraged to vote for the dish as “Amazing” or “Disappointing.” The restaurant with the most “Amazing” votes will win the competition.

The club will receive $10 from each purchased dish. These proceeds will be used to help families in Canyon Lake who are in need during the holiday season. Any funds left over will be used by the club to uplift others in need throughout the year.

The PZA Restaurant’s signature dish is “Wake Pepperoni Grill Cheese Combo,” which sells for $12.00.

The Urban Craft and Eatery has created the “Bacon Wrap Crab Cake Benedict” for the competition. It is made with lump crab and yukon potato hash browns on top of a toasted English muffin. Included in the dish are applewood bacon and a poached egg with hollandaise sauce and arugula. The meal costs $25.00.

The Lighthouse Bar & Grill is offering as its signature dish a baked trout stuffed with brie and apples. It is served with butternut squash, risotto and grilled asparagus. The cost is $20.00.

The Canyon Lake Junior Women’s Club is a nonprofit organization that has been serving the community of Canyon Lake for many years. The club encourages everyone this month to buy one of these great meals to fund its great cause.
