Letter: Shout out to first responders

Editor, The Friday Flyer:

Here’s some Canyon Lake news with a positive outcome. Shout out to our first responders.

This morning about 8:45 my next door neighbor’s dog started barking, alerting them that there was smoke. As they looked around they saw it was coming from their garage or attic.

Canyon Lake Fire Engine 60, Moreno Valley Engine 68, Cal Fire command truck, other engine companies (I couldn’t see the engine numbers) and a paramedic truck all responded to the Rim Rock house. There were a total of five or six engines and two ladder trucks pulled up. It was hard to count them all as they took up the small cul-de-sac.

They put on full gear, grabbed their chainsaw, pipe pole (pokes through drywall to check for hot spots) and hoses. They knocked it out and did the mop up within 30 to 40 minutes or so.

No one was hurt. It’s good to know they take smelling smoke as seriously as they did. These guys were ready and meant business. They are ready to protect our community!
