Letter: A tribute to Chris Delong

Editor, The Friday Flyer:

Chris Delong passed away in his beloved Canyon Lake home he custom remodelled here in Canyon Lake.

He told many stories about he and his crew from Delong Construction. He put in a massive wood beam, that took an immense number of men to install, in his living area. This opened up the area and the kitchen, where he built a custom kitchen. He was also proud of the bathroom he designed in his master bedroom.

The construction was always quite eventful as his crew pulled trailers and equipment in and out of the driveway. Carlos, Del, Everisto, Raul…the list goes on and on of all his wonderful crew. My three children and I moved in with Chris to experience a wild rollercoaster of events. There was never a dull moment.

Chris was an outlaw in Canyon Lake…at least everyone he knew him as such. His mother and father worried about him and Ingred and Bob tried their best to guide Chris. He loved them very much. His younger brother Johnathan also had many fond memories with his older brother Chris.

Just about Christmas time, Chris’ plumber Caesar brought a black lab puppy to Chris and me. The mother and other puppies had been shot for eating chickens. She was the last survivor. Chris dearly loved “River” and she was with him until his death on Sept. 1.

Rest in peace Chris Delong.
