40-year Canyon Laker becomes centenarian

Anita Kingsbury, who has lived in Canyon Lake for almost 40 years, recently celebrated her 100th birthday.

Anita said that one of the most rewarding parts of her life has been raising children. She has also been an avid golfer, bowler, pool player and bridge player. Besides attending various Canyon Lake functions, Anita went on trips with the Travel Club and participated in the Women’s Golf Club.

Anita’s life advice? “Just keep breathing.”

POA looking for input on patrol services

During its board meeting this week, the Canyon Lake POA announced an Aug. 25 forum via Zoom to solicit community input on the patrol services that serve Canyon Lake. The current contract comes due in November and the board is looking for a significant number of members to give input at the virtual meeting. The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. and can be joined by getting information on the POA website.

Canyon Lake student makes Concordia honors list

Kendall Sampang, a senior from Canyon Lake majoring in Exercise Science, has been named to the Concordia University Ann Arbor Spring Honors List for the 2019-2020 academic year.

To be eligible for the honor, students must achieve a minimum 3.60 GPA and complete at least 12 undergraduate credits.

Founded in 1963, Concordia University Ann Arbor offers more than 40 undergraduate majors and is affiliated with The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The campus is located on 187 acres overlooking the Huron River.
