Rapidly-growing studio expanding space

Canyon Lake business owner Kim Barnes is sprinting to keep up with her rapidly-growing studio business. Pure Pilates Canyon Lake is a high-end boutique-style studio located in the Canyon Lake Town Center.

Under construction is a second studio next door. Pure Spin will open in about four weeks, Kim said. The two studios are inside the Can-Do Plaza at 31606 Railroad Canyon Road, Suites 201 and 204.

Kim began taking pilates classes over three years ago to help her cope with the deaths of her mother and best friend.

“Pilates helped me get through one of the most difficult times of my life,” she said. “I knew that I wanted to help others benefit from it in the same way that I did.”

A year into her pilates journey, she began her instructor training and earned her Pilates Instructor Certificate. With the certificate in hand, Kim opened her first studio inside of Wild Blush Studios in the Town Center. Her clientele multiplied rapidly and she outgrew her space there, forcing a move to her current location at the Can-Do Plaza.

After having so much success with her first studio, Kim decided to open the second studio right next door. The new location allows for a larger studio and Kim said clients are excited to be in an area where they can drive their golf carts to pilates and yoga classes.

“I will always stay small,” Kim said. “Focusing on my clients individually in a small, clean and high-end studio setting is my priority.”

In addition to outfitting Suite 204 with a new reformer with springboards for pilates, Suite 201 will soon feature new 2020 Schwinn bikes for improved yoga and spin classes.

Kim said that amidst the pandemic, many new clients have been visiting her studio in order to avoid the “traditional crowded” gym scene.

She offers full PPE and uses H13 Hepa Medical Grade Air Purification systems (Medify Air) in both studios to protect her clients.

“I have a weekly professional cleaning service.” Kim said. “After every client and class, we always thoroughly clean and disinfect everything that was touched before the next client arrives.”

For new clients, the first pilates class (30 minutes) and the first yoga and spin class (1 hour) are free. Kim hosts all of the pilates classes and instructors who are certified in yoga and spin classes will soon begin to help her lead the other classes that are offered.
