Bruce Buffamonti was having a quiet day Monday on the lake with his fishing buddy, Paul Hawker. It was too quiet for Bruce, with hardly a nibble all morning.
After trying all of his favorite Canyon Lake spots and essentially giving up, he decided to make one last cast before heading home. Reeling the lure about halfway back to the boat, his luck changed for the better with a solid strike.
Bruce ended up reeling in a Big Mouth Bass that weighed in at 5.85 lbs. Paul said that he wonders how many other fishing days ended up with the last cast of the day being the best.
