Volunteers needed at charity food event

Canyon Lake volunteers are needed for a large Helping Hands drive-thru food distribution on June 20 at the organization’s Lake Elsinore warehouse. The charitable group was founded in 2005 by Canyon Lake resident Robert Sasser. It became a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in 2016.

Helping Hands works tirelessly to provide food and necessities to individuals in the communities of Canyon Lake, Lake Elsinore, Menifee and Quail Valley, Robert said.

“Volunteers are always needed for this ministry,” he said. “But they are especially needed on June 20 in order to help with the large amount of cars expected to drive up and be provided with necessary groceries.”

The charity asks that anyone with a cough or cold stay home. It would also like to remind all volunteers that social distancing will be enforced, including avoiding hugging and shaking hands.

The work will take place in the parking lot, so closed-toe shoes and appropriate dress are required of the volunteers. Volunteering starts at 8:00 a.m. at the warehouse parking lot located at 31877 Corydon, Unit 110, Lake Elsinore.
