EVMWD continues relaxed payment policies

In observance of ongoing “stay-at-home” orders from local and state government, Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District continues to provide essential water and sewer services for Canyon Lake under revised conditions.

“Water quality testing and monitoring, along with critical day-to-day system operations and maintenance, continue as planned,” Greg Thomas, general manager for Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District, said. “EVMWD has responded to the current COVID-19 crisis in several ways, recognizing that strategic action is needed to protect both the health of our employees and customers. Though we have adjusted certain procedures based on health guidelines, full district operations and customer service are being provided 24/7.”

While EVMWD’s lobby remains closed under the current county and state orders, customers are encouraged to pay bills online at www.evmwd.com or via phone at 951-674-3146.

“We recognize the struggle some may face during the pandemic,” Andy Morris, president of the EVMWD board of directors, said. “EVMWD is here to help. Customers who are experiencing adversity during this time are encouraged to reach out to our customer service team for assistance.”

EVMWD has suspended shutoffs for nonpayment to ensure that all customers have access to clean water, which is crucial for hygiene and sanitation during this time. Special payment arrangements and financial assistance, including the Rate Assistance for Residents of Elsinore Valley (RARE) program, are available to help individuals who qualify and are facing financial hardship. EVMWD will continue to monitor the current situation and provide updates, as necessary, Greg said. Traditional business operations, such as lobby access, will be restored once it is approved by local and state government.

“As always, customer safety and wellness are a top priority and each decision is made with these important considerations in mind,” Andy said.

On April 29, Riverside County extended an existing order, requiring residents to wear face coverings and practice social distancing through June 19. EVMWD continues to observe both local and state guidelines while ensuring that customers have uninterrupted access to safe, reliable water supplies.
