Local wins top award for photo of summer concert

Tammy Revard won Best in Show for Photo Journalism at the Riverside County Fair and Date Festival for a picture she took at the Canyon Lake Fine Arts Guild summer concert last year.

The photo Tammy entered of a sunset at the new amphitheater at Holiday Harbor during a Fine Arts Guild Concert won First Place and Best In Show for Photo Journalism.

“I feel so honored that the photo is displayed on a monitor at the fair for thousands of people to see the beauty of Canyon Lake,” Tammy said.

The photo wasn’t Tammy’s only entry at the fair. She entered Christmas Trees that she had already decorated because her house was on the Woman’s Club Christmas Home Tour, she said. Her “Movie Tree” won First Place and was a group effort with the help of Shari Gonzalez, Debra Gonzalez and Kathleen Ahles. Tammy’s “Angel Tree” won Second Place.

“I decided why not try some other things as well?” Tammy said. So she entered a tye dye shirt and hook rug in their respective divisions and she won Second Place in both categories. Tammy’s maple bacon haystack cookies won First Place against 14 other entries.

Tammy’s total take for all of her entries was over $225 in prize money.
