County to recruit poll workers for Primary Election

Poll workers are needed at voting locations throughout Riverside County for the upcoming March 3 primary election. No experience is required, and training will be provided by the Registrar of Voters office. Poll workers may earn up to $125 as Precinct Inspectors or $90 as Precinct Officers.

Poll workers must attend a training class to familiarize themselves with election procedures and prepare to assist voters when the polls open at 7 a.m. on Election Day. Training sessions are scheduled during the day, evenings, and Saturdays. A $20.00 stipend is paid for attending the required training session.

  • As an Election Officer some core duties will include:
  • Setting up the polling place the day before the Election.
  • Staffing the polling place from 6:15 am to approximately 9:30 pm.
  • Opening the polling place at 7:00 am and closing at 8:00 pm.
  • Greeting and processing voters.
  • Instructing voters to correctly mark ballots and on the use of the electronic Accessible Voting Unit.
  • Accounting for and returning all ballots and election materials to the Registrar of Voters’ office immediately after the polls close.

The Riverside County Registrar of Voters is also seeking individuals who are proficient in English and at least one of the following languages: Chinese (both Cantonese and Mandarin), Korean, Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese, or American Sign Language. These individuals will assist voters at the polling places who are not proficient in English.

Anyone who wishes to participate as a poll worker should call the Registrar of Voters office at (951) 486‐7341 or (877) 663‐9906 or visit https://voteinfo.net/EOapp.asp.

Applications are available at https://voteinfo.net/polls/EOapp.pdf

High School students ages 16 years and older are also able to participate, but have a few additional requirements. The Student Poll Worker Program is an ideal opportunity for students to both participate and learn the value of civic participation and democracy.
