Fine Arts Guild kicks off season with Eagles tribute

The Canyon Lake Fine Arts Guild kicked off its 2020 season last Saturday at the lodge with a sold-out show featuring Eagles tribute band Desperado.

Desperado featured five instrumentalists who, depending on the song, sang lead or harmony. Several of them have played with the Hall of Fame band itself.

The audience rocked to such timeless classics as “Hotel California,” “Lyin’ Eyes,” “New Kid in Town,” “Take It to the Limit,” “Tequila Sunrise,” “Witchy Woman,” “Heartache Tonight” and, of course, “Desperado.”

“They sounded so much like the Eagles, I wanted to cry,” said one front-row audience member.

The Fine Arts Guild will be featuring tributes to Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young on Mar. 28, Brooks and Dunn on May 30 and Queen on Oct. 17.

VIP tickets to all of the Guild’s concerts at the lodge cost $45 and are already 90 percent sold for the 2020 season. General Admission tickets cost $25. The Fine Arts Guild has sold-out each tribute concert over the past four years, so early ticket purchase is recommended.

“As the Guild was selected 2019 Organization of the Year, the bar is now set very high for 2020,” said Fine Arts Guild President Ron Martel. “We welcome the challenge to meet or exceed expectations, so stay tuned for another exciting year with two more free summer concerts at the Holiday Harbor amphitheater.”
