CLMS competition cheer off to a great season

With three competitions under their belt, the Canyon Lake Middle School competition cheer team is officially in the middle of the competition season and looking forward to a few big championships in January and February.

The team competed at the USA Regional in Fontana where their Game Day routine, Advanced stunt group 1 and Novice stunt group 1 all placed first and qualified for USA Jr. Nationals.

On Dec. 7, the team placed first in Jr. High Show Cheer Advanced at the NCA SoCal Championship in Irvine.

The team competed at USA regional competition in Brea on Dec. 14 and placed first in Jr. Show Cheer Intermediate. The Advanced stunt group 2 and Novice stunt group 2 both placed first and qualified for nationals. Novice stunt group 3 placed second.

“We have one more USA Regional on Jan. 11 and  CheerPros California State Championship on Jan. 18, followed by USA Jr. Nationals in February and the NRG Nationals in May,” said coach Tammy Howard. “We are so excited to see how we do this year. We have amazing talent and the girls on the competition team are a pleasure to work with.”

The Canyon Lake students on the team are Allyson Villarreal, Bailey Graham, Callie Reeves, Carisa Ronchetti, Eliana Ruyle, Emma Cole, Captain Kolena Apana, McKenzie Cassara, Natasha Warner, Riley Bergherm, Ryann Boshard, Ryleigh Cooley, Sawyer Lanouette, Shae Inchcliff and captain Summer Scott. Additional members include Delaney Shaw, Emilie Quiroz, Emma Dornay, Gage Dudziak and captain Lacy Castillo.

The team is coached by Tammy Howard and Kendall Howard.
