Letter: Lodge Ambience

Editor, The Friday Flyer

I really like the lodge. I like the people that work there. I like the décor. I love the atmosphere with picturesque views of the lake and mountains which I think are absolutely outstanding, one of a kind, but the ambiance sucks.

The chandeliers are always set on the highest level, and combined with the can lights over the bar radiating 4,000 watts, it makes you think you are in an interrogation room at the LAPD.

I really don’t know how people can find that a comfortable atmosphere when you need sunscreen to dine. I’d visit much more than I do but I hate wearing a welding helmet to prevent eye damage and they won’t serve Darth Vader, so I’m told.

All these lights are on dimmers but they are not used to create a warm, inviting, calm atmosphere that I believe most people prefer. This is not done in the side dining area which offers the ambiance that should be reflected throughout the entire establishment.

On another lighting matter, LED lights are now in the lodge parking lot, I assume changed over for improved economy of use. However, if you perform due diligence into high intensity (super bright) LEDs you will learn that the light spectrum (highly blue) is detrimental to photon receptors in the eyes. With enough exposure over time, blindness can occur.

Take note of the intense LED headlights on new cars and trucks when they approach you in night-time driving. That is more damaging LED exposure. The answer here is using night-time driving glasses, “Blue Blockers.” I hope you find this “enlightening.” Best to all in 2020.
