Price adds another historical moment to career

Sara Price just added another historical moment to her career; the 27-seven-year-old Canyon Lake resident clinched the SCORE International Trophy Truck Spec. Championship. Sara completed the Baja 1000 as the first-ever IronWoman in this class and the first-ever woman to win the TT Spec. Championship.

The 4 Wheel Parts driver also added to her list of achievements this year the SCORE International 2020 Milestone Award along with a 2nd place overall in the series close behind well-known champion Andy McMillin. This year’s Milestone Award required to cover 2,025.43 rugged race miles throughout the season.

Price went beyond an impressive 2nd place in every race of the SCORE International Series to secure the Title of Trophy Truck Spec. Champion.

“This year has been nothing less than a dream come true to become a Baja Champion only our second year racing in Baja, we were as consistent as it gets this year in off-road racing,” Price said.

“Our team RPM Racing, GeiserBrothers, family, navigators, supporters, sponsors and everyone else in our army, plus myself worked so hard to make each race a success and we were determined. Our class is a very competitive class and it didn’t come easy, every mile this year was earned and never given as our class stayed that close all series long. Being able to complete the Baja 1000 driving the entire 800-mile race to wrap up the championship was such an accomplishment for myself. A lot of people thought I was crazy but I knew I could do it, especially with navigators Erica Sacks and Preston Murray by my side. Just to finish was an accomplishment; finishing 2nd once again was the grandest.

Sara has the points needed to be number one going into 2020.

The number 204 team completed this year’s Baja 1000 28 minutes after the 19th-hour mark. Canyon Laker Erica Sacks, founder and owner of Waypoint Nav School, completed 640 miles alongside Sara.

“This year was a great year for racing,” Sacks said. “ The Baja 1000 is a really tough race, this was my 3rd attempt and my first finish. Sara did a great job driving the entire race and earning a 2nd place. Everyone on our team put in a lot of work and it paid off. We were consistent the entire season with four 2nd places, even though we wanted to win a race we are stoked to end up with the championship.’’

SP Motorsports’s head mechanic Preston Murray helped achieve the race by navigating 160 miles of the roughest section of the 800.5 miles through San Felipe.

The TT Spec. Class is a regulated class that showcases driver talent above all else. Class vehicles are equally matched, with rules specifying engine, suspension and wheel and tire size.
The SCORE International Baja 1000 will be airing on ABC TV Network’s World of X Games programming and internationally.

Named the 2016 Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame Rising Star, Sara Price’s racing career started on dirt and she went on to join Kawasaki as the first factory-supported female racer.

She began racing dirtbikes at the age of eight and collected 19 amateur titles and medaled in Women’s Super X at the 2010 X Games. She holds the record as the most winning female amateur to date.

In 2012, the versatile competitor switched to 4 Wheels and started racing UTVs where she campaigned the WORCS series, Lucas Oil Regional Series and became the first American UTV Team to compete in the toughest all-female sporting event on the planet, the Rally Aicha Des Gazelles in Morocco, Africa, in 2015.

She wet on to finish the Terracross Championship undefeated to take the Women’s Championship that same year.

In 2016, Price took on six races in Stadium SUPER Truck Series and became the first woman ever to lead laps in the series.

In 2019, Sara’s second year racing in Baja, she became the first-ever woman to win the SCORE International Trophy Truck Spec. Championship, the first-ever woman to IronWoman the TT Spec. Class and finish and the first-ever woman to finish 2nd in the overall championship in SCORE International.

When Sara is not racing, she works as a stunt professional performing on motorcycles and in vehicles and as a precision driver for television and film.

SCORE International sanctions a series of desert races in Mexico on the Baja California Peninsula. The 2018 season included the San Felipe 250, the Baja 500, the Tijuana Desert Challenge and the Baja 1000. Founded by Mickey Thompson in 1973, SCORE International continues today under the current presidency of Roger Norman, who purchased the rights from Sal Fish in 2012.
