Lions, Lioness deliver donations to Cops for Kids

The Canyon Lake Lions Club and Lioness Club collected donations for Cops for Kids during their annual Christmas party on Dec. 10 at the senior center. Members from both clubs delivered the toys along with a $600 donation to the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station on Dec. 11.

Founded in 1995 by two deputies on patrol from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station, they saw a need in the community and took up a collection from other deputies at the station. They started by delivering gifts to underprivileged children while on patrol at Christmas time.

Today, Cops for Kids is a 501c3 non-profit serving hundreds of children, seniors and families each year. Staffed entirely by volunteers from throughout the community, they host a number of fundraisers each year.

Whether it be transportation costs to school or work, a temporary place to stay for an entire homeless family, youth activity funding, clothing, or some assistance for educational costs, Cops for Kids is ready to help.

With low overhead and virtually no red tape, Cops for Kids can respond immediately to children, seniors and families in need. They are often the local organization called to help because of its ability to quickly and respectfully assist others with emergency funding.
