Letter: Golf Cart Parade

Editor, The Friday Flyer

Even with the rain, over 78 golf carts participated in the parade and over 100 toys were collected so far. This is about half of what we had last year. The community can continue to bring toys to the Canyon Lake Lodge and place them in the Street Carts bin until Dec. 17. The bin will be checked daily.

The Street Carts of Canyon Lake would like to thank the community and the following people for making Sunday’s toy drive and Christmas parade such a great success. First and foremost, we would like to thank everyone who came out to watch the parade and participate in it in the pouring rain. Special thanks to Fire Station 60 for leading the parade and clearing the way and to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department for keeping us safe.

I’d like to thank the Street Carts club members, my wife Jeanne, daughter Ashlynn and my son Taylor and his wife Ashleigh.

Special thanks to Carrie, Samantha, Erica and RiAnne at the POA for helping to organize the parade and serving hot chocolate, coffee and cookies. Thank you to Thomas Anagnostopoulos at the Lighthouse Restaurant for hotdogs, chili and drinks. Thank you to Operations for their hard work in setting up and tearing down the event.

Thank you to Donna Ritchie for her great articles leading up to the event and helping promote it, as well as taking such great photos and covering the parade. Thank you Tiffany Cribs for a great write up in Canyon Lake Living.

Thank you to the Tennis Club for the $100 donation and JDI Dance Company for all the wonderful toys they give every year.

Once again, thank you to all those who participated in the parade and to our generous community of Canyon Lake for all the wonderful toys.

Mike Shroyer,
President of Street Carts
