This Saturday, Canyon Lakers can be a part of the 10th annual holiday shopping tradition that helps to bring communities together in support of small businesses.

The Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce is asking residents to shop local and shop big on Small Business Saturday, an American shopping tradition held annually on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It’s the counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which feature big-box retailers and e-commerce stores respectively. By contrast, Small Business Saturday encourages holiday shoppers to patronize brick and mortar businesses that are small and local.

Founded by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday is dedicated to supporting small businesses and celebrating communities across the country. Small businesses play a key role in helping communities thrive. Shopping at them on Small Business Saturday, and throughout the year, can help make a positive impact on the community.

The chamber encourages residents to get out and shop local on Saturday. While some businesses in the Towne Center will be offering specials on Small Business Saturday, its more about those small businesses being special and what they bring to the community. Whether it’s a family business, local shop, or wholesaler, Small Business Saturday is about supporting a small business owner’s dream.
